To be successful, a growth mindset is essential – a belief that more is achievable – and the determination to shape our thought process in learning and perfecting required new skills. Business professionals are very busy and often believe there is little opportunity to practice their skills. But it is possible to treat everything from making presentations to interviewing job candidates as practice sessions, setting out goals for improvement, pushing beyond your comfort zone and arranging for feedback to ensure continuous improvement. In many ways, improvement comes from more polished skills rather than more knowledge. Too often training reverses that, focusing on knowledge at the expense of skills.  At NAAAP Toronto's Leadership Symposium, a special guest panel will share secrets to a gold standard of deliberate practice pushing past beliefs that your abilities are limited in some way.

Introducing special guest panelists..

Avaah Blackwell was one of 10 actors globally selected to participate in the Prague Film School's renowned "Acting for Film" program in 2009. Graduating at the top of her class, she worked as a professional actor in central Europe before moving to Toronto in 2014. Utilizing her international training and experience to infuse her work with unique physical, emotional, and mental discipline, Avaah is known for playing strong female leads.  Merging her diverse industry experience as a Runway Model (Versace, Toronto Fashion Week, Fashion Art Toronto et al.), Events Director (ACTRA Studio District Film Party TIFF 2015), Makeup Artist (Holt Renfrew, Nars, YSL, Shu Uemura, Laura Mercier, Prague Shakespeare Festival), and Casting Director / Associate (Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol, Missing ABC TV Series, I'm On It), Avaah offers a rare and valuable skillset to each project she commits to.  In preparing for the upcoming female MMA feature film, "Excelsis" Blackwell studied under Steve Wilsher (Havoc Stunts) and Kara Wooten (P.H.D et al. at the Academy of Dramatic Combat).

Lanni Marchant is a record-holding long distance runner setting the Canadian women's marathon record at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon in 2013 with a time of 2:28:00. In 2014, Lanni was also the fastest female Canadian runner at the Boston Marathon with a time of 2:30:34. Finding a fit and balance in physical and mental terms within her sport has been incredibly empowering for Lanni. It has helped her to live and train with purpose towards seeing through some of the proudest moments, both in, and out of running shoes.  Lanni has represented Canada at the Chiba Ekiden relays (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014), at the 2013 World Championships and the 2014 Commonwealth Games (Glasgow, Scotland) in the Marathon event, and at the 2015 Pan Am Games (Toronto ON) winning a Bronze Medal in the 10,000m. In July 2016, Lanni was officially named to Canada's Olympic team. Graduating from the University of Ottawa and Michigan State for two law degrees, Lanni's roles as a criminal defense attorney in Tennessee as well as being Canada's fastest female marathon and half-marathon runner make for an amazing "double life" that Lanni takes great pride in.  Despite Lanni’s success as a runner, she wants her legacy to be more than just her running. Lanni is passionate about advancing women rights and showing the world once and for all, that there is no one best body type or mindset for personal achievement.

Jaze Bordeaux is often described as a bold, courageous and an action oriented leader with a strong will and desire to go to great heights and equally great depths for inspired causes. He has also been described as a twenty second century visionary with thought provoking ideas, who challenges the everyday construct of our reality. As a savvy Executive Producer, Jaze is on the cutting edge of what he believes to be a 21st century revolution in the motion picture entertainment industry by having a female led cast in what is largely considered as non-traditional roles for women. Specifically, his upcoming feature film "Excelsis"  a Universe Pictures Group production is now on pace to become the first female mix martial arts feature film in the Drama Sport movie genre. In fact, Jaze's story telling leans heavily towards strong female leads inspired by the many strong women who have influenced him over the years. To accentuate the potential of mankind and what is possible within all of us, Jaze applies the power of motion pictures as the vehicle to transport humanity into the 22nd century; "change everything by collapsing stagnant mindsets and creating a vision of what could be" as he is often quoted as saying.
