Cathy Winter
Program Manager, DiverseCity onBoard,
Global Diversity Exchange,
Ted Rogers School of Management, Ryerson University 

Cathy Winter leads the national replication of the DiverseCity onBoard program across Canada. The objective of the program is to change the face of governance across Canadian cities to be more reflective of its residents, strengthen the capacity of boards in the voluntary and public sectors, and provide online governance training programs to everyone.  

The program was awarded the UNAOC-BMW Intercultural Innovation Award in 2012.
Cathy is a National Board Member, YMCA Canada and Member of its Governance Committee; a Member of the Board of Directors of the Anne Johnston Health Station, where she chairs the Nominations Committee and is a Member of the Strategic Planning and Quality Committee.  She is a former Member of the Allocations and Agency Services Committee of the United Way of Toronto Board of Trustees, and other United Way of Toronto committees.  Cathy holds a Bachelor of Arts, a Masters of Economics, and a Masters of Industrial Relations.

 

 

Alfred Kam, CPA, CA, CPA (Illinois) is a Chartered Professional Accountant with strong business acumen serving public and private entities across multiple industries.  He has extensive accounting, audit, internal control, tax, and business advisory experience. 

As a Bachelor of Commerce graduate of the University of Toronto, Alfred qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998 and has worked in a national firm in both assurance and professional standards.  In 2011, he joined a regional firm as Director of Professional Standards (later as Associate Partner) to support the firm in providing effective and efficient assurance/accounting services.  He leads the firm’s continuing professional development and quality control functions.  Alfred has recently been appointed as a part-time inspector at the Chartered Professional Accountants’ of Ontario, where he will educate and inspect CPA firms for compliance with professional standards.
 
Alfred enjoys spending time with his family and friends in his spare time.  He also donates his time as co-treasurer of a church fellowship and as Chair of the Markham Public Library Board.
