Time: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Who should attend:

Network leaders

This pilot workshop will cover writing effective mission and vision statements, how to develop a strategic plan, and different ways to organize and lead your grassroots group. We’ll also talk about how you can build legitimacy, looking at the pros and cons of traditional routes like incorporation and registering as a charity as well as considering other options to increase credibility.

The Grassroots Growth team is working hard to develop four training workshops to help grassroots groups effectively manage volunteers. You can attend our workshops from A to D to take you from starting your organization through to coordinating a large number of support volunteers, or pick and choose from the topics that are most relevant to you right now. Workshops will cover issues relevant to grassroots groups in Ontario today, including governance structures, volunteer burnout, and volunteer recruitment and retention – all from a grassroots perspective.

As a participant, you can expect to learn from your peers, think critically about and learn how to adapt traditional ways of managing volunteers, and develop a volunteer coordination strategy that works best for you and your grassroots group.

Have Your Say

By attending the pilot workshops, you’ll be able to help shape the structure and content of the training sessions, which will officially launch in September 2016 and run through to March 2017. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to include your voice in our project!
