Chinese Workers Support Network Professional Group

The Chinese Workers Support Network Professional Group (CSWNPG) is a volunteer-based group supported by the Chinese Workers Support Network (CWSN). The CWSN, managed by WoodGreen Immigrant Services, supports Chinese newcomers, new Canadians and refugees who work in both unionized and non-unionized workplaces to access EI, workers compensation and employment standards.

The Program supports workers in workplace exploitation, health and safety issues, job search and provides individual guidance, case advocacy, information sessions, employment supports and a newsletter that has a subscription of 500 recipients. The CSWNPG, as part of the CWSN, supports their counterparts (many of whom are internationally-trained individuals) to acquire knowledge and skills relating to workplace issues, build community capacity, address problems collectively, and develop networks for the purpose of going back to the work force. The Group works closely with the Chinese Interagency Network to advocate for systemic change.
